We here at CannabaX are quite stoked to have met some new friends doing some unique things down in Southern California. We met Helina, the Founder of Wavehuggers, and quickly learned of the vision and concept she is currently building with her team.
Wavehuggers is not just your traditional Surf Program. Their Mission goes much further than just teaching people to surf. The Wavehuggers ideology is directly aligned with the CannabaX culture. Enjoy surfing, open the opportunity up for new people to learn and be introduced to life changing moments as they catch their first waves. As this new experience unfolds, also teach the importance of our responsibility to preserve and enjoy the waves and water that had changed our lives so our future can have the same opportunities!
Wavehuggers is a Surf Program that holds classes all over the LA, Orange County and San Diego areas. They teach people how to surf, but go steps further in also educating them on Ocean Conservation. They educate the new surfers on eco-friendly products that can be used in their new hobby such as our Organic Eco-friendly surf wax. They are partnered with a handful of awesome Non-profits who focus on Ocean Conservation and hold beach clean-up events with these non-profit partners. The real cherry on top is that they Donate $1 of EVERY lesson booked through their program to their Non-profit partners!
We here at CannabaX have yet to come across another surf camp / program doing these amazing things that Wavehuggers is currently creating focusing to give back and conserve and educate our surfers about our ocean. We believe that the conservation starts at the forefront. To open up the realization to these new waterman and women who will now be surfing about their connection and responsibility to play their part in this initiative. They are not only changing the lives of these individuals by teaching them how to surf; they are changing their lives by educating them and opening their perspective to the current state of our ocean and the help that it needs from us. They are leading by example by hosting beach clean ups and conservation programs.
If every surf camp embodied these concepts that the Wavehuggers team currently implements; we would see a drastic positive impact at a rate not currently experienced. There are thousands of individuals learning to surf every year through these programs. If each and every one of them enrolled through Wavehuggers, that would be thousands more participating in clean ups and spreading the education that they have learned to fight the mission of keeping our Oceans Clean.
